Lambda Literary Foundation honors Victor Banis
As you know, the Lambda Literary Foundation (LLF) is the organization that gives the annual Lambda awards. We also have an annual Writers’ Retreat for new writers, we sponsor readings, and other events, and we are a resource for the community.
LLF is celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. In honor of that we decided to publish a calendar of LGBT literary pioneers.
The 2008 calendar honors the following pioneers:
Ann Bannon, Betty Berzon, Samuel R. Delaney Jr., Martin Duberman, Leslie Feinberg, Barbara Gittings, Andrew Holleran, Audre Lorde, Paul Monette, Joan Nestle, John Rechy, and Edmund White.
The response was so good to the 20th anniversary calendar that we decided to do a 2009 calendar. The 2009 calendar honors the following pioneers:
Reinaldo Arenas, James Baldwin, VICTOR BANIS, Katherine V. Forrest, Nancy Garden, Joseph Hansen, Fritz Klein, Del Martin & Phyllis Lyon, Armistead Maupin,
Adrienne Rich, Jane Rule, and Barbara Smith.
